The project directly supports the National Programme on Food Safety as approved in the Prime Minister’s decision No 149/2007/QD-TTg which contributes to people’s health protection, economic and social development. The specific targets therein are:
Raising awareness and practice of food hygiene and safety and the responsibility of food producer and consumer;
Strengthening the capacity on food safety management organization, inspection, analysis system from center to localities and in ministries and related agencies;
Developing food standards corresponding to international standards;
Applying a food safety management system with HACCP (hazards critical control point); and
Establishing a programme of risk analysis and food contamination management.
