The Trust Fund for Smallholder Agriculture and Social Protection was established with the World Bank in 2009 to provide technical assistance to support the World Bank’s development policy operation in response to the food and fuel price crisis and the global economic recession in 2008. The smallholder agriculture component supported policy studies informing public and private sector investments and improving the performance of input markets and agribusinesses. Technical assistance for social protection supported the development and implementation of a National Social Protection Strategy (NSPS).
