The project aimed to construct mud crab ponds and purchase equipment necessary to run an aquaculture farm in Teuk Thla commune in Sihanoukville. The project's overall objectives were to prevent a decrease in fishery resources as a result of illegal fishing in the municipality, and promote instead sustainable use of fishery resources by enabling the local community to grow mud crabs for sale, thus improving their income. A part of the income generated through the management of the ponds was expected to be utilized for monitoring illegal fishing and managing areas where fishing is prohibited.
