The project will upgrade and develop irrigation and drainage facilities to enhance food security within the Northern Chu and Southern Ma Rivers irrigation command area within Thanh Hoa Province through providing farmers with reliable irrigation services, increasing agricultural productivity and the incomes of the rural poor. The Government seeks ADB financing for the north main canal, rehabilitating existing and developing new irrigation facilities which receive irrigation water from the Cua Dat reservoir and multi-purpose project. Project activities will focus on enhancing irrigation system O&M and water management and mitigation of climate change.
The Project aims to provide farmers with reliable irrigation services by upgrading and developing the irrigation and drainage facilities over about 31,100 ha within the Northern Chu and Southern Ma River irrigation command area of Thanh Hoa Province. This will increase agricultural productivity and the incomes of the rural poor.
