Project Information

The project's overall objective was to provide the opportunities to increase the incomes of poor households in selected communes of Quang Ngai

The immediate objectives for the project's four components were as follows:

Component 1

• Initiate household rural income generation
• Develop and implement equitable and sustainable participatory planning and support processes which facilitate income generation

• Develop commune-based rural infrastructure construction
• Contribute to the construction of commune rural infrastructure identified in consultation with commune households that will contribute to increasing incomes

• Provide commune, district and province capacity building
• Increase the capacity of government (provinces, districts and communes) to assist poor rural communes

• Provide program management, monitoring and evaluation
  

The expected outputs were as follows:

• Households in up to 14 communes assisted to improve and adopt existing or new income generating activities both on and off farm, to identify and access funding, construct and maintain small scale community driven commune level infrastructure that enhances livelihoods and facilitates income generation
• Improved capacity of provincial, district and commune staff, and those of other potential service providers to meet poor rural community needs by embracing participatory planning methodologies in activity planning and service delivery.
