Developing irrigation for agriculture in Laos and more specifically in Khammoune province has been a priority for the Agriculture and Forestry provincial department and national ministry in order to meet self-sufficiency for rice, favor crop diversification and thus reduce poverty in rural areas. However, PAFO and DAFOs lack technical, logistical and human resources means to propose and implement an appropriate irrigation strategy at the province or district levels. This project aimed to support the concerned agencies in the elaboration and implementation of the related strategy.
