The objective of the project was to assist the government in developing a unified water management system that will strengthen integrated water resources management and improve water service delivery in irrigation. This was hoped to contribute to increasing productivity in the agriculture sector, within the broader context of effective and efficient planning, management, and conservation of water resources to ensure their sustainable use in the future.
The technical assistance consisted of three parts. Part A focused on helping develop the unified water management system, Part B on strengthening integrated water resources management, and Part C on supporting the reorganization and reorientation of Rural Irrigation Department's (RID) service delivery operations in irrigation.
