The project is intended to improve the livelihoods of poor families by enhancing agricultural production and promoting added value, enabling them to produce more food and to generate cash income, thereby allowing them better access to food.
Two main activities being implemented in this project are enhancing income through layer duck rearing for Nargis-affected farmers in Bogalay township, and supporting the improvement of crops, small livestock and fish production for small farmers and landless households.
The project targets women as project beneficiaries in order to increase the proportion of women or households headed by women reaching food security status and getting rid of poverty level.
Average project size is US $20,000 per country. Types of project and inputs, which are covered by TeleFood Special Fund, include crop production, small animal production; and fish production.
