The project supports the governments of Lao PDR and Vietnam in undertaking structural and non-structural measures to prepare for and manage disaster risks linked to floods and droughts. The project interventions are expected to enhance the regional data, information, and knowledge base for the management of floods and droughts; upgrade or develop water management infrastructure; and prepare communities to manage disasters such as floods and droughts and adapt to climate change. Improved drought management and irrigation water structures are expected to benefit farmers on about 66,000 hectares of agricultural lands and at least 500,000 people from the improved flood management.
