Overall, the project aimed to provide focused technical assistance in the areas of international trade and development analysis, with particular reference to the impact of globalization on agriculture and rural sector of Vietnam. It sought to improve the ability of MARD authorities to analyze and foresee both opportunities and adjustment challenges facing the agricultural sector; and improve the effectiveness of trade policy at the levels of strategic development, negotiation, and implementation. In particular, the project supported key MARD advisers in Vietnamese negotiations, and helped strengthen dialogue and bargaining capacity in the areas relevant to agriculture.
