Support the futures of the youngest and most vulnerable in Vietnam by funding healthy meals and educational scholarships for kids. PeaceTrees Vietnam has removed 85,000 bombs from the land to provide safety to children in Quang Tri and has built schools and libraries on the safely cleared land. The 11 libraries, 8 kindergartens, computer lab, and mine risk education center we've helped construct bring education and literacy to more than 3,500 children each year and need your help to stay open.
For poverty stricken children, food and education are not guaranteed. Our kindergartens, which provide daily healthy meals, are frequently the only reliable food source for many children and our scholarship program is the only reason many youth can afford to attend primary school. Our buildings serve as classrooms, community spaces, and as safe shelters for abused women and children and sometimes have to be shut down due to structural damages caused during the storm season (May-Dec).
Funds raised through this campaign will provide meals for kindergartners, scholarships to 200 youths, and essential maintenance to our 20 educational community buildings. Storms have already begun to hit Quang Tri this year and they will only get worse. Without our schools and libraries, children will not have access to food or education. Help us ensure that no safe space for women and children has to be shut down in 2014.
By providing access to food and literacy, we take a step towards a brighter future for underserved children in Quang Tri Province. Maintaining community buildings and meal programs will ensure that youths for decades to come will receive the early childhood education and primary schooling that will ultimately improve the quality of life in Quang Tri and will help to lift the population out of socioeconomic despair.
