Following the democratic transition and reform process, Myanmar has been selected by the Danish government as a priority country for Danish development assistance. A comprehensive country development program covering the years 2016-2020 is currently under preparation. Prior to this, Denmark has provided development assistance in a number of areas of importance for the development of Myanmar, including in the media sector, health, education, livelihoods, peace and to civil society organizations. In addition to this, Denmark is also providing humanitarian assistance to disaster affected populations, refugees and internally displace persons.
